Default Travel insurance

I'm struggling to find travel insurance for my forthcoming trip to Spain on the bike, most polocies, including the one I have through work and the one i have from my bank don't cover riding bikes over 125cc and every quote I have so far excludes this also.

Can anyone recommend a company that will cover riding a big bike

Cheers.

Hi Lenny, who have you tried and who is your provider through work?

This is a prob I have seen with misleading or contradictory terms and conditions. One I saw a year or two back said you can only ride 125, then in next paragraph after something conpletely different said unless wearing helmet and had appropriate licence.

Post Office. Any bike as long as you have the appropriate licence. Covered in their standard policy.

Nice one LPH! I will have to remember that if I ever leave my work. Ours is pretty good and covers most things. I'd be screwed if I left there!

I'm covered by my Lloyds TSB bank account. Don't know if their policies sold separately are the same, but I'd imagine so.

When BUPA provided my work with travel insurance, it covered all bikes provided you had the appropriate licence. It is worth checking with them, as unless it has changed in the past 12 months it should cover you.

I cannot check as I am no longer with that employer.

M&S covers as standard "driving any motorised vehicle for which you are licensed to drive in the United Kingdom other than in motor rallies or competitions".

Also worth checking the small print about having appropriate licence for the country in which you are riding. No one has ever asked to see my international driving licence abroad but when I had my off in Thailand I had to send copies of both UK and international licence.
