Default Things to Do in Plymouth When You're Dead

I'm going to working in Plymouth for most of this month, so another hotel and hire car.

So what goes on down there? Can't take the bike, or the push bikes which is very annoying, but I will have laptop so I can watch Sky TV but there has to be some interesting to do right?

What sort of thing are you in to? There is a dry ski slope, a theater, a big VUE cinema, bowling, plenty of swimming pools, lots of shops in the city center, some excellent pubs serving real ale, loads of restaurants etc.

If you get yourself down to the historic Barbican area, there is a famous greasy spoon called "Captain Jaspers" that is a common place for bikers to hang out. They do a "yard of sausage" if you are hungry (Captain Jaspers, not sure about the bikers!).

The Barbican also has a very active night life, as does "Union Street" in the city center, though the latter is rather infamous for drunken Janners causing trouble.

Dartmoor is on the doorstep if you fancy getting out of the city (shame you don't have the bike, some fantastic roads around here).

Edit: The "Wheel of Plymouth" is now the Hoe (basicaly a smaller version of London Eye) that gives some cracking views of the city and out into Plymouth Sound (the bay that joins English Channel to the rivers Plym and Tamar)

The national Marine Aquarium, Dartmoor Zoo, Paignton Zoo up the road, Torquay Sea Life centre.

Oh, and don't forget the drink, drugs and prostitutes!

You could also bring your bike gear and test ride some bikes!
