Poor running after carb balance.
Sorted out two videos of how my motorbike is currently sounding.. If honest it sounds like a dog being attacked with a stick covered in bee's. It's horrible and I'm not sure how to rectify it.
History is I balanced the carbs a couple of weeks ago using a sync tool and got them the best I could. That night the bike sounded ok. Havn't riden it since then though and battery went completely flat.. :/ Charged it up over last few days not "full" charge however as it is due for a change and the bike sounds like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJDfQUEaFjY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUAW_CY0C5U Any help be great as dying ride the bugger, but taking it to the garage is sounding pretty tempting yet expensive :/ |

Re: SV650 very angry with me...
sounds like your airbox is not on propley well thats what i think it is
if i take my air box out and ride the bike up the road that is what it sounds like but im not 100% sure that that is your problem

Is that from cold? How does it sound when it's up to temperature? Does sound like it might be an airleak somewhere.

Re: SV650 very angry with me...
adding to that, when balancing the carbs you have to take a little plastic cap off the front carb to put the hose over, this dropped into the great abys to never be found again. Does this cap need to go back over the nipple?

To get the airbox on I either leave the rubber mounting attached to the airbox then sit on the air box and tighten it to the inlets of the carbs or other method is remove the rubber from the bottom of the airbox and clampit over the carbs and tighten securely then sit the airbox over the rubber and lever the lip round with a flat head screwy.

Re: SV650 very angry with me...
will give it a try in a bit then cheers!
With that poppin noise, it does sound like randomly coming from the engine area to, similar noise to that of the video. Probably the leak? |

Well done on that bit of maintenence, you are supposed to balance carbs, not balance them then create your own air leak

Re: SV650 very angry with me...
Also, don't beat the airbox into submission. you're wasting your time and will only end up knackering the carb boots.
Take air filter off, and move it around until it is nearly seated, then use your fingers to pop the lip up into the airbox all the way around. don't forget the engine breather pipes on the lower left of the airbox.

Steady on Chris! Don't be too harsh on him. After all, if it wasn't for these 'Haveago&buggerit types, us chaps who can get the rubber caps back on other folks nipples (MATRON) would get less work in Seriously people. Speaking as a professional, I would advise you all to carry out all maintenance with a blindfold on ~rubbing palms together~ Cheers. |
