Re: Dropped their bike!?!?
Yeah i dropped mine!! Rookie mistake really.. left my disc lock on and tried to drive away! haha! Never used the lock since. It bent the fairing mount a little and the gear shifter/shift rod but that was it!

Re: Dropped their bike!?!?
Parked up last night, put side stand down ( or at least attempted to!) climbed off bike an it just kept falling!
Smacked my knee on the way down resulting in badly scratched fairing and broken mirror!..... And a f##ck#ing sore knee!!!!!!! I was so annoyed as I'd only recently bought the fairings new and sprayed them! Just my luck |

Re: Dropped their bike!?!?
Dropped almost every bike I've ever owned, all for stupid reasons, luckily none of them got damaged.
TSX50 was dropped almost daily, mainly off road though. SV and GSXR were caused by slamming the front brake on when on full lock! 929 Fireblade was overloaded and parked on a slope, jumped on it and it kept going! VFR800 in the garage taking it off the centre stand New Fireblade was dropped on my mate's ploughed field he calls a driveway turning it round on gravel Vstrom and CBR400 are drop free so far, CBR is tatty anyway so it wouldn't matter but V-Strom is brand new and I'd never get it up on my own as it's huge! |

Re: Dropped their bike!?!?
Its a right of passage, you must do it at least once.
Cx500 was good for this, as it was sooo top heavy. SV has fallen off its paddock stands before, but I haven't dropped many of my other bikes from memory. Plenty of close calls

Re: Dropped their bike!?!?
Disc lock 2 or 3 times, manoeuvring ****-ups, riding too fast or not looking (obvs), tipped it off the sidestand once while changing the back shock, low-speed drop while wallying the throttle and clutch on a cold day - quite a few times now that I think about it!

I'll Never try and ride up a steep damp grass bank on road tyres again. No damage, just embarasment!

Re: Dropped their bike!?!?
When I leave work and have to stop in the entrance of the industrial site to turn right. I always make sure I put my right foot down now.
Learnt the hard way - cold bike, badly set TPS, not enough revs. Moved forward just enough to part lift my left foot from the floor. Engine died whilst turning/leaning to the right. DOWN I went... Muppet. Funny now, ****ed me right off at the time.

Re: Dropped their bike!?!?
The one thing I don't like with the SV is the side stand retracts FAR too easily, it nearly fell over at a petrol station last weekend when I swung my leg over to dismount.
The only time I've dropped a bike on the road was when it was p*ss*ng down, I had overtrousers on and didn't realise the kickstarter had gone up the leg of the overtrousers. Come to a stop at traffic lights, try and put right foot down, can't, and .... tiiiiiiiimmmmmmbbbeeeeeeeerrrrrr |
