Agree with Craig on this one John - for sure you'll get used to it and tweak it how you like it in no time. Glad to hear you didn't get off it thinking "oh dear", that would have been a very different situation to be in.

Went for a test ride on this beauty today. Oh my...

I didn't want to take it back. Dealer said they have sold their entire stock for the year except for 1 bike in the silver/grey colour.

So god damn smooth compared to my Dorso. Silky smooth engine and throttle. Whisper quiet when pootling around, but the induction howl when you open it up is so addictive. The power at the top end was throwing me back so much it was pulling my trousers down

Initially I was thinking it didn't feel that much more powerful than my bike, until I revved it all the way out...WOW

Handling is incredible, so intuitive. It just goes wherever you want without even having to try. Brakes are biblical. Feels like I could endo it with ease.

Only negatives I found were the dash and the pegs. The dash is so hard to read. It's just all reflections and the rev counter is a tiny digital line I could barely see. There is also a readout of the revs but it's formatted like 08534rpm and is tiny. Really hard to read. Probably not an issue once you know the bike, but for me trying to work out where the powerband and rev limiter was, it wasn't much help.

I've been spoiled on the Dorso for leg room. It's a really tall bike with low pegs. When I got on the triple it felt like a mini moto! Felt like I was 7 foot tall. I think I could live with it but I'd probably be looking for lower rearsets or a higher seat.

The quickshifter seemed really good. First time I've used one. I couldn't stop my left hand pulling in the clutch though

Nice. I was just reading Bike’s write up from last month and they loved it too.

They reckoned the R was a better all-rounder for the road than the RS. It has a clearer dash, that you might like, and a lower seat, that you won’t.

When Hugh went for his 1st years service I was given an R as a courtesy bike. My impressions on the sear/butt distance and the engine match yours Darren, and going for an overtake scared the life out of me. Staggering machine.

A while back I could've sworn I'd been pinged by a camera van on the way to the Ponderosa at about 50 in a 40, just before it changes to NSL. I was especially annoyed with myself because it's a spot where I'd seen vans before but not for a couple of years: I let my concentration wander for a bit.

18 days have passed now, so I think I'm in the clear.
