Question Your best and worst words....

I've just seen Pookie use the word 'moist' in another thread which reminded me of sharing an office with a woman who hated the words 'moist' and 'gusset' so much she requested we did not say them out loud. (Of course we then used them at every opportunity to annoy her.)

So which words in the English language do you love. Mine are:

Blamanche
Serendipity
Transmogrify
Sausage
Nurdle

But I don't like the word 'basically' as it always precedes someone giving an overly complicated answer which isn't basic at all.

Interesting.

Basically Clare, I find that the word is most often used not because the speaker thinks that something is actually of any interest, but because they can't bother to think of a better way to avoid telling the truth. It can also mean something is good or bad, but without telling you which. So when someone says, "interesting", someone else can be left confused.

Did ya see what I did there???

All time favourite work is bludgeon, with it's mild onomatopoeia and two nasty syllables and brutal meaning, closesly followed by assassin.

That or daisy, petal and lilly.

i like moist.. especially when pronounced mooiiiiiii st. Its a strange word.
I also like foreign words that have been incorporated into english
ketchup - chinese
bungalow - indian
entrepreneur - french

I personally hate purposely mispelt words like
phat, soulja, gangsta and clunge ( if that is an actual word?).

Glad you all enjoy moist so much

No no no, I hate the word moist the most! I know where this hatred comes from too. It comes from so many crap Turkey dinners at Christmas where people say "oooh the Turkey is nice and moist", every freakin year....after year.. after year.

My favourite word to use is "ariculate".
If you are presenting or talking to people and you get stuck for words or are struggling to get your point across and you are coming across a bit thick then by saying something like....

"It's very hard to articulate what I mean" you can immediately regain your position and appear...well...articulate.

My favourite Noun is Beer.

Oh, I also like masticate because it sounds rude and can be used in sentences like ..

"Sometimes I pop a couple of nuts in my mouth and then masticate for hours"

Which of course makes me seem very big and mature.

"Mate" flippin' hate mate with a passion. Well, actually its the spotty little .... who serves behind the counter in the corner shop. "What can I get yer mate," and anything else mate."

I ain't your mate pal!!

As for "moist"... it forms part of one of my favourite sayings when I like something - "that's left me feeling mildly moist"
