well it very much depends on what the bike actually is? if the model has never been road type approved, then it'll need an SVA test.

If however it has been type approved then you only need to appy for an age related reg from DVLA and get it MOT'd.

Cheers Mark.

rough guess it's not type approved for road use, and as standard won't meet road regs, lights aren't an issue as you can get daylight use only, but I doubt tyres will be to spec, then mudguards, chain guard outside radius on bolts that sort of thing, have a look on DVLA web site, you can (or could) apply for a pack which comes with all the SVA regulations in it.

Cheers Mark.

Right from the start you will need some paperwork - certificate of newness or letter from importer stating the age. You should be able to see the frame mumber clearly. You can get it MOT'd on just the frame number - no such thing as daylight MOT as such, but you will need legal tyres, brake light, horn, speedo etc to pass. Best seek advice here. Next you must get insurance cover. Next you have to apply in person, with passport or ID at a DVLA office to get a first registration, and a reg number. You will proably have to present the bike for inspection - they just really check frame numbers, engine number or whatever you have given them.
Some off road bikes are commonly registered, I was looking into the process for a CRF230.

Do you think anyone, ever, has registered a TRIALS bike rather than an trail bike or corsser? Intriguing! Road legal tyres could be a prob, or maybe those TW whatnot thingy bike ones would fit.
