Default Fuel light

Went out for a ride just now, no sign of a fuel light, thought hmmm this tank seems to be lasting me a while, 80 miles since the last top up or thereabouts, got halfway home and the fuel light comes on solid, skipping the flashing stage.
Sticking sender unit perhaps?
Explanations/ideas welcome

nope he got a nekkid black curvey with a rather super twin headlight. it shouldn't be coming on solid chris it should flash...and get really annoying as if you forgot to turn your indicator off!!

Yeah it does normally flash first, hence my curiosity about why it went solid straight away.
And about the lights.....
