Cheers,

Hmm, no but if I get really angry I could probably snap it with my bare hands.

Either that or tear the whole bike apart and leave the bits strewn around the garden

I broke my chain breaker a while ago but not got around to replacing it yet

Yeah more likely!

So what's a chain breaker? Is it the opposite to a riveting tool? Can you not just cut it or pull a linl apart?

A chain breaker is a tool that is used to break chains

But yeah pretty much the opposite of a riveting tool, normally has a pin to push out the pin in a chain link. TBH though i'd probably just used an anglegrinder to cut the old chain off.

Yer, as DD said use an angle grinder, very quick and effective.

I also had a breaker/rivetter tool and broke it.

Thanks for the tips. What about getting it back on again? Sorry for the dumb questions - not changed a chain since i was 6 and then was only watching my pops.

What I normally do is fit a split link then nip down my local bike shop and they rivet it for a fiver. I think wemoto do a tool called the whale tail or something like that

I ground mine off, and then riveted my new chain back on.
Do as DD says RE getting it back on if you don't have a riveter.
