Thinking about a loud can
When I was riding through london the other day, I thought it would be a really good idea if i had a loud exhaust for my bike, to make drivers more aware of my presence, or at least inprove the chance they take a look to see im filtering through. But being restricted, is there any point for me putting on a loud can? Is there one i can slip on without doing anything to the carburation?
I probably wont do it, but its a thought that i want to pursue and discuss Matt |

Re: Thinking about a loud can
I got my Flee-flow exhaust on the other week.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of having to head down through Earls Court to the Albert Embankment. With the right amount of rev's/throttle blips I had cards parting for me. So if you want that Moses-like effect for yourself, get a can and remove the baffle If you want a demo I can arrange it David

a de-baffled remus always did the trick for me.

Re: Thinking about a loud can
+1 for what SoulKiss said.
When I went to London on the SV, I saw how much louder other bikes were. That was the turning point for me. Then I fitted the scorpion, and rode home (with the baffle in). I ended up filtering along the A55, blipping the throttle, and cars were parting like SoulKiss said. That's with the baffle in!! |

Re: Thinking about a loud can
I'd say yes, if only for the extra 'grin factor' that it adds. Even having ridden a couple of better, faster IL4s they don't have nearly the same sound as an SV with a can on and it really gives the bike an extra reason to have fun with it/not consider changing it/feel like you're on a bigger, faster bike etc.
I had my Blue Flame on even when restricted, no problems that I noticed. It's particularly good on a 33bhp bike IMO because there are few other bikes for a restricted rider that will sound so good and make it 'feel' like a full power bike. |

Re: Thinking about a loud can
Oh, and as for the traffic factor, I haven't done London on it, but the extra safety effect when filtering through tailbacks on the motorway is very welcome. I can see people way up in front checking their mirrors to see what's coming, all helps in keeping free from SMIDSYs.

Loud pipes do indeed save lives the traffic parts when they hear you coming well mostly there is always some ignorant git who is ****ed off cos her has to sit in a traffic jam and wants everyone else to wait aswell
