Grinding 1st!!
As most of you know i`ve got K6n with the lasers fitted, it`s the only sv i`ve ridden so i`ve got no comparison. Anyway whenever i`m slowing down to a stop for lights etc if i try to pop it down into 1st at anything above 10mph it just grinds and won`t select.Only other similar experience of this was a hyosung 125 comet that wouldn`t select 1st unless completely stationary. Is this a common fault that i`ve just gotta live with?

I ride a K2 so I'm not sure if it's the same gearbox. I rarely use first at anything below 10mph when decelerating but I'm sure my bike does drop into 1st at more than 10mph as I've done it before. I don;t think it will be the same gearbox though. Hot massively helpful but I'd say you may have a problem there.

Don't know I never try to select first when I'm still moving. Thats a really good way to lock the back wheel up that is.
I only select first when I'm stationary and ready to pull away again. How are you downchanging are you just pulling the clutch in and prodding the lever with your foot or are you "blipping" the throttle on downchanges.

Sorry should of made myself a bit clearer, i don`t actually want to use 1st as it would without a doubt lock the back up, just preparing to pull away once the lights have changed, so the clutch is fully in and it still grinds. Yes i do blip the throttle, if only to make those lovely tin box drivers aware that i`m there

It's normal.
Selecting 1st gear is always best done at standstill. |

I've never had any difficulty, just a quick blip, and it normally slides into first without a problem. Now if it's crunching into gear, that suggests that the clutch isn't fully disengaging — maybe a case of a little adjustment?.

Yup, mine doesn't do it either- though I wouldn't neccesarily consider it problematic if it did, I'd still try to make it stop.

If you check the manual it gives you the speeds for each gear
Funnily enough 1st gear won't select when downshifting if you are above that speed limit I know sounds strange as you would be able to select any gear with clutch suppressed though not on the SV |

Not on yours maybe I, on the other hand, can stupidly downshift into first at surprisingly high speeds. Don't ask me how I know.
