been messing with my spare cartridges for my forks over the past few weeks in preparation to service them. lapped the pistons, polished the shims, rearranged the shim stacks and closed the top bleed holes. put the forks back together two days ago with 70% pro rsf 2.5w and 30% pro rsf 5w to give a cSt@40c of roughly 17.5 (suzuki SS-05 is 15.7).

just been out for a little blat about and i must say it feels pretty good but i think i need to remove another fast comp shim as its still a bit fierce over large bumps. feels much much better with the lighter oil mix in it as before i was using full pro rsf 5w and the forks always felt really stiff but now they are a lot more compliant but still dont dive on the brakes. the forks actually feel a lot better than the MCT custom valving i had in the other carts.

Spent the last 3 days repairing the cracks in my fairing lowers. There are a couple more to repair yet but I have put the fairing back on to see how the JB Weld epoxy resin holds up over a couple of month before I invest any more time and effort in them.

I also repaired the windscreen mount for my mobile phone. It was only a cheap one and I suppose I could have just bought another but firstly, I hate the wasteful nature of chucking stuff out when it could easily be repaired, and secondly, I get a huge amount of satisfaction in making broken things work again.

Gary. I too like the challenge of a repair. Saved a lot of money too as a result.

.
I've got to fix my left lower, as the rear mount cracked and split off the fairing

If it's come away completely Mav, it may be worth having it plastic welded.

Replaced the plastic bushes for bronze types on the Saab swirl flaps.

Old brake fluid flushed out front and rear. Pillion seat cowl wobble virtually eliminated. Clip on bar ends, installed properly, have to assume previous owner oblivious to them hanging out 10mm too far!
