Take photos of the bike and put an ad in MCN and Biketrader ASAP while the mileage is still under 10k. That way it'll show up in search results for the under 10k bracket. If you have to keep riding it in the meantime then do so - the mileage will rise but you can just explain that to any potential buyer who responds to the ad. How many miles a week are you racking up, anyway?

To give you a rough guide, I advertised my SV on the 6th, the online ads appeared on the 9th and it was in print in MCN on the 15th. I took a deposit for it on the 17th and was still getting calls about it for a week after that. I don't think that's a bad turnaround. Get the ad in soonest, get the price right, be prepared to let a couple of hundred quid go through haggling, and you should sell it pretty quickly.

As to loan repayments, it depends entirely on the loan. I've had some that let me pay chunks off early and others that only accepted a lump sum as a final settlement. But why mess about with loans. If you must finance it, rather than buying from your own pocket, then get a 0% balance transfer from MBNA, pay the transfer amount into your current account, take the 3% hit upfront and worry about refinancing whatever's left in a year's time.

Or I suppose I could buy it with my current credit card (If I use a dealer) and balance transfer the total. Hmm, interesting idea.

Will see what I can do. Credit Card companies are not loving me at the moment though. I have been in my property less than 12 months and my bank account is less than 12 months old also.

If you buy a bike from a dealer with a credit card, they'll sting you for the transaction fee which will add another 1.5% at least to the purchase price.

If you can get a balance transfer to your current account, do that. If you can't, hold fire - at worst you lose a couple of hundred on the sale price as the mileage ticks over 10k (which, lets face it, it's going to do anyway) which will be peanuts compared to the extra you'll pay to buy from a dealer on a credit card with some derisory trade-in.

Option 3, of course, is to not spend money you haven't got, and stick with the SV for a bit longer.

Or - get a loan out and pay it off within 2 months. That way you only pay 1/4 (2 months interest + 1 month early pay off fee) of the interest rate eg 8% becomes 2%!

That looks more interesting as I might be able able to make up the money just by selling privately.

Why not? The 600rr is a nice bike that should stand the test of time ie I can keep it as my run about even when I deceide to buy something a bit more powerful.

I've got one for sale.. as soon as it come back from 4th Dimension (most of the LH side will have brand new bits too)

Was thinking about that - what price you going to sell it for and when will 4dm get it back to you?

Trouble is - I'm not sure about colour. If you have some good hires pictures of the bike then send them over.
