Re: Rear shock removal
No not a paddock stand, as you're compressing the suspension. If you managed to get a bolt out, the whole lot would collapse.
Sv Rich managed to do his with a pair of axle stands and some metel rod into the swingarm pivot, but an Abba stand (or similar) is safer If you're careful you might get away with balancing it on a car jack. But I'd loosing the bolts first If not hang the rear end with strops from a garage rafter, but make sure everything can take the strain!!!!!

Re: Rear shock removal
You need to support the unsprung weight of the bike so an Abba stand or similar is wanted.

Re: Rear shock removal
Lets hope the axle stands are long enough & the footpegs don't fold up

Re: Rear shock removal
Im about to do the same thing and dont have an abba stand or joist in the garage so i was thinking of making an 'a' frame type thing out of wood to support the weight.

Re: Rear shock removal
I'm personally just considering making some rope out of cotton and then tying it round my engine and onto the asbestos garage roof, lifting the whole bike off the ground and doing it whilst it's suspended.
