Default G tech Pro RR stopped sensing RPM after rewire

Today i was refitting my Gtech pro RR so I could gather some base line performance figure before starting mods to the engine and drive train.
And although the tacho feature worked in the past on this 02 sv650 since the eleltrics fried and I have not only replaced most of it, I have also shortened the harness and fitted a lithium battery for the cafe racer conversion It's not working now.
The tacho indication starts to display then nothing, won't move.
Does anyone have any thoughts, the gtech picks up the signal some how just by plugging in a cig lighter socket. that also is knew be cause I'm a bit parrinniod about cooking things again I bought one with voltage display.
I might try and wire it straight across the battery.

Assuming you don't mean one of these:

I don't have one but I was interested in how a GPS device picks up revs via a cigarette lighter outlet - apparently it relies on detecting the rpm via noise on the 12V power line - it's amazing it works at all. Maybe the Lithium battery is better at smoothing the electrical signal or maybe your new reg/rec is electrically quieter - but I'm only guessing - do you still have an AGM battery you could try?

It is possible to manually calibrate it:

(oh, sorry to be that guy but it's "paranoid")

Hi Seeker
The calibration is not picking up what ever signal it needs.
You are thinking down the same path I am. I will let you know if I find a solution. I suspect it picks up noise from the stator
p.s. I did have trouble with "paranoid"

I found a forum where they used a gtech meter on a rx7 and it was said engine rev recognition worked better with the headlights on loading the electrical system.
So I am thinking Hi beam with the radiator fans running may tip the balance.
fingers crossed
