1st Gen Sv650 =curvy
2nd gen = Pointy Foam grips can help, but the real answer is to raise & change the angle of the bars. Comfort kits are very popular for both generation bikes. Using the tank to take the weight off your wrists and palms can also help a lot, and changing the angle of the clutch & brake levers too.

Having considered all the options above I think I will be contacting Topyokes.com and getting a kit from them. I just need to think about the bars I will get in case there is an option where I don't have to cut the bike about. Possibly a pair of Vincent type bars.
