Default Fork Bush

The fork bush/bush guide. i.e the split bush that is teflon coated on the inside.

The Suzuki manual says to insert it, the Haynes says insert it is as far as possible.
I have used a length of plastic pipe as a drift but it is not fully flat/fully inserted, it is slightly proud.
I dont want to try & use a metal drift in case I damage the chrome on the stanchion.

Does it have to be fully inserted and if so any advice on how to do so or will "as far as possible. " be OK?

Thanks

I've not done any work on SV forks yet but there's some YT videos that may help,

There's a large washer that goes over the top of the bush and under the seal. I put that over the bush and then used a copper drift to gently tap the washer and drive the bush home. Take your time, repeated small taps rather then several hefty clouts will win the day!

The bush shouldn't be proud enough that the washer can't sit flat on it's ledge.
