Default Blackberry vs iPhone?

We are in the process of changing our office mobile phone contract to 02, and the telling question is do we continue using the BES or switch to the iphone handsets.

I've not had any dealings with an iphone, and only what I've searched for on the web, so I wanted to know what pro's & cons are given between the 2 handsets.

What I've heard that if the iphone is locked, you are unable to see your email/sms notifications and the push email only updates every 15 minutes, and not like the blackberry where it is instant.

Anyone, gone from Blackberry to iphone? your comments would be greatfully received.

Wouldn't touch either.

iPhone - locked POS thats all style, no substance.

Blackberry - what is so important that you need to see an email the second it is recieved and is it REALLY worth the back-end cost/hassle.

Any phone that supports IMAP/POP3 email can be set to check for new messages every x minutes and with large data packages available, the excess traffic this generates isn't a problem.

Me, I use an N95 which when I am worried about it, checks for email every 5 mins, when I am not, I manually update it.

But then again, I use the phone, I dont let it use me/run my life.

Blackberry for business.

IPhone for pleasure, if at all.

SK; unfortunately Architects like Gadgets especially the guys in my office, and they have been using Blackberries without cause for concern - but it's when they go on "Client Day Outs" and the client pulls a iphone and says look what this can do...yada,yada,yada -everyone gets a bee in there bonnet and wants an iphone.

I keep trying to tell them it's not a fashion item - and the Blackberry does the job that is required.

Plus, with the NEW 3G iphone dropping on our shores on Wednesday, I want to be sure of my decisions against the iphone and/or blackberry

i have installed base of both BES and MS push email. We moved new users to MS as they could use their iphones. Configuration on the exchange server was simple and runs seamlessly alongside the BES. The top brass are still on Blackberrys. Why dont you suggest having it in parallel?

I'd say MS Exchange push too. Then you can use any windows mobile handset along side the iPhone should you want to.

I'm not a windows person though, so my opinion might be bad. I got given a blackberry and it seems to work. It annoys the hell out of me though, and I would rather have an iPhone.

I know i was asked to support iphone cos the user wanted to go up the mountains skiing. I dont think they user is too bothered about the emails more just he wanted connectivity. Once setup it works the same for all the windows mobile phones
