Scottoiler not flowing through
Hi all
Hopefully this is a really simple problem to fix. I've had my scottoiler 6 months, and all was great with it, but it's just stopped flowing through onto the chain. The reservoir's full, and I can see that the oil is flowing all the way nearly to the nozzle which sprays it onto the chain but it's stuck there, so it must be an air block. I've tried running the bike without the end nozzle of the scottoiler in, and have shoved a bit of wire into the tubing to try and find a blockage.. Is there anything else I could try? Do I have to run it when the flow rate is at max to have the best chance of clearing it? Any pointers appreciated. Thanks Iain |

Re: Scottoiler not flowing through
Air won't stop it because it is a gravity feed. It must be proper blocked.

Re: Scottoiler not flowing through
replace the pipe cheap as fried potatos in B&Q
or clean it (blow it through with an air compresser) Last edited by hovis; 02-11-07 at 11:17 PM. |

Re: Scottoiler not flowing through
Hi Ian,
I would check that the vacuum connection, I had this problem recently, turned out that it had been disconnected during servicing. Just needed reconnected, reprimed and all was well Cheers ... Duck |

Also if you run it empty and allow air in the tube, this too could stop it working. Turn the flow rate all the way round to prime with the engine running. You should find that it will start to flow again. Once flowing, turn the flow rate down again. If all that doesn't work, make sure you do not have a hole in the dispenser assembly somewhere. If you do, get a replacement from here. http://www.scottoiler.com/pc/Motorcy...injector).html |

Re: Scottoiler not flowing through
Does anything come out if you turn the dial all the way round to "prime"? The oil should drip out without the engine running in this position.

Re: Scottoiler not flowing through
Yep turn to prime ( turn the dial on the reservoir right round and let the oil run through until all the air has gone - (you'll need to start the engine) ( usually a minute) then adjust back to your normal setting about 4 on mine depending on weather.. Try not to let your reservoir get too low as this seems to be when mine gets an air block. The other time is when the bike is left to stand for a long time. Hope this helps!

Re: Scottoiler not flowing through
Hi all
Many thanks for your help on this. Armed with new found knowledge, I got the mechanic to hook up his airline to the Scottoiler feeder tube. After a few minutes, I could see the oil start to flow again - definitely proper blocked... All good now, just in time to lube my new chain. Mint. Thanks for the help all. Iain |
