Default New job - well sort of

I'm so so happy about this

Many on here will know that I'm a self employed solicitor, partner in a smallish firm in Shrewsbury. Cos we do a lot of property based work we aren't exactly rushed off our feet at the moment.

I also do a locum job as well for a large council in the north west of England, works out at one day a week, maybe a bit more.

Well I was there today and they shocked me - they asked me to work full time for 3 months Turns out they've advertised to get someone for the role (Community Services related legal work) and couldn't find anyone, nobody even applied, so they thought of me. Met the Community Services peeps this morning and we hit it off straight away. I was so made up, really happy, and the money is dead useful too. I can do a lot of it from S'bury with Vicky (my trainee), but I'll be on the M53 a lot more. So I'll be drafting contracts for Community Services providers - much of it is contracted out housing related stuff for vulnerable adults and adolescents, provision of external carer and social work services, school transport contracts, mental health review contracts, service level agreements, that sort of thing. And there is a helluva lot of work to do, so it'll be busy

Did I say I'm excited about it?

Sounds very much like you are going to be doing an awful lot of good for some people much in need of support from the system. It is always heartening to hear that some one has such a positive outlook. Good luck in the new job role, watch out on those roads though after long days at the new desk.

Mind summer evenings cruising home on the bike could be a bit of fun.
Big hugs

Well Ed, it sounds like you've been given a fantastic opportunity to help others while also helping yourself which is always a great position to be in.

Lets hope that after 3 months, they decide to extend your contract.

Congrats and enjoy the work!!!
