Default Question about USD forks

One of the upper tubes on my forks has got a bit of a scuff in it. It's only cosmetic but it bugs me. I just want to spin the upper so that the damage can't be seen. Is it just a case of loosening the pinch bolts on the triple clamps and spinning the upper? I can't get the front off the ground so there is no weight on the fork springs. Does this matter too much, or will loosening the pinch bolts cause a twist?

Thanks for the advice.

Scoobs, yes you can turn the fork leg while it's still in the clamp - but you must get the weight off the front end first.

Loosening the clamps without lifting the front will give a high risk of that fork rising through the clamp and yoke... Getting it down again will be more hassle than it's worth!

Be sure to note top clearance of the dork leg through the tip clamp, and ensure you re-torque the clamp bolts.

As above, weight off the front wheel, loosen the upper & lower fork clamps (plus usually the clip-on for that side) and you should be able to rotate the fork outer to the point you want it. Do up the bolts again to the correct torque, and you're away.

Nice one gents.

I'm hoping the dork leg was a genuine typo

You should've seen what happened when I tried to type in "Scoobs"... What the iPhone autocorrect suggested was unrepeatable.

Another reason why I wish I had an iPhone. Just to try that out.
