Although saying that, we may go up to Kendal and jump on the mway up there somewhere. I'm tempted to stop off at the truck stop like last year for some grub at lunchtime though, as it was top banana!
Sounds like a plan

Think I might join the dizzy express too - did it all as motorway last year because I had to do a morning at work (and was nearly in danger of arriving ahead of that crew, if I hadn't doubted how far up the loch the campsite was). Any way of grabbing a decent meal gets my thumbs up

It was 275 miles me for last year, its looking like nearer 300 this time, Ill be heading straight up the M6/M74, it would be nice to do a few A roads but dont want to spend so much time in the saddle I cant do the rideout next day, besides, I said this last year but its true, dont think of it as being stuck on a motorway, think instead, grasshopper, that you are riding through some of the most beautiful scenerey in England and there just happens to be road going through it

I think I'll probably do Lichfield - Ashbourne - Buxton - Glossop - Huddersfield - Halifax - Skipton - Kirby Lonsdale then see how the time is. 5 hours according to Google Maps, the bike can usually achieve Google maps time including stops. That'll put me there about lunchtime.

From there I'll see how I feel, maybe I'll head up to Windermere and do Kirkstone Pass, maybe I'll A6 to Carlisle, maybe I'll just jump on the M6.

Once in Scotland I know all the options and exactly how long they take, so the decisions will be made by the clock and how I feel.

Will depend upon weather of course, if it's crap I'll come with you guys on the motorway.
