Default New guy on the block, sorry if this is in the wrong place!

Not sure if this is the right place to say Hi, so if I am in the wrong place then please excuse me, but from time to time I have been asked if I am a member of the SV forum, so as the saying goes, at long last "Here I am"!

I am a 50 year old former retired Police motorcyclist who now investigates motorcycle accidents for a living. I was pensioned off early as a result of being left crippled after an accident at work on the bike, but that doesn't stop me wracking up about 40,000 miles a year which is down from the 100,000 a year I used to do.

In addition to investigating bike accidents, I am also an advanced riding examiner and instructor, a qualified CBT and DAS instructor and I am one of the people responsible for setting the questions for the motorcycle theory test, although I am not employed by the DSA.

I used to have a fleet of SV650's as training bikes, and very good training bikes they were as well, so fond memories.

I was involved in writing the current edition of Roadcraft the Police riders manual, I sit on various committees relating to motorcycle clothing as I have specialised knowledge in this field (which many manufacturers do not like to hear) and I act as a consultant to overseas bodies on riding issues as well.

To top it all I work for a law firm (which I am not here to plug by the way) and I do a lot of presentations to various riding clubs and organisations on areas ranging from accidents to advanced riding to any other area in motorcycling. (The presenations are free by the way)

Suffice to say my working life and social life evolve around motorcycles which many might consider to be perfect, but it does entail long hours and a lot of travelling, which suits me.

For my sins, I am on my third Blackbird (I must like them) and although I did over 100,000 from new on each of my previous 2, I have managed to keep the current one down to about 40,000, although my disability is now making it more and more difficult to ride at the moment, so my mileage will be right down this year, for probably the first time in 30+ years.

So, I look forward to being a member of this site, and if I can assist anyone whether it be just answering questions or being of more practical help, then I look forward to it.

Welcome aboard.

With a CV like that I think you can look forward to a steady supply of questions from the crowd here, and plenty of volunteers to fill up any empty seats at your presentations.

Regards,

Keith.

Welcome welcome!

Let us know your general area so that the locals can harass you about coming to rideouts
