Manx Grand Prix SV
Anyone got any info, recommendations or advice about which model sv best for building a race bike for MGP 2010. ie Which year motors are best? most reliable? mods to avoid for reliability? Would you get 4 laps on a big tank? Any particular suspension providers better for SV...........
I know you spend years getting info and developing but if you don't ask you don't get........... Cheers in advance |

Re: Manx Grand Prix SV
What are your budget and limits? Can you change forks, radiators etc?
k3 onwards have oil cooler and FI, early ones had issues with oil foaming under hard use IIRC, there was a recall to fit a plate to stop it (fitted as std for y2k on) but the K3 on have it properly fixed. If budget no limit I'd be tempted to go with a gladius and fit an under seat tank. Druid

Re: Manx Grand Prix SV
If budget no limit I'd start with a curvy frame, curvy crank and cases, 41mm flatslides, busa pistons, curvy rods, (I've heard the 99 cranks are different, but I'd confirm that before making any decisions), penske 8987 shock, late model gsxr forks revalved, trick subframes and bodywork.
Obviously depends on rules and regs...

Re: Manx Grand Prix SV
No you wont get 4 laps from a tank and the tank has to remain at stock capacity I understand??.
Injected bike as late as possible with as fewer miles as possible. Best mod - ported heads so the bike breathes better, decent system such as an M4 or Leo Vince. Nova gearbox to give a higher top end speed, Slipper clutch to reduce load off the rods and get the genny lightened to reduce weight off the end of the crank - vital as the crank failures are not due to a weak crank, they are due to the weight of the genny and over revving on the downshift causing the crank to torque sheer. Nitron or Ohlins shock and GSXR front end, GSXR600K6 works well with reworked air gap and springs. |

Biggest loss of rotational inertia is in removing magnets and machining flywheel itself like, but is still cool part It's got to be the acceleration of the crank that causes that inertia to snap it not just revs. That and stress raiser caused by drilling for starter clutch bushing.

Re: Manx Grand Prix SV
Fire truck lol. What damage does it normally do when the rotor suddenly becomes detached then?
