Default Replacement rear shock

I have a good condition GSXR600K1 rear shock on the shelf. Does anyone know will it fit straight into my SV650S K3?

I know I could spend money and get a Nitron or the like, but I already have the GSXR shock and it seems a pity not to use it.

The length of the GSXR shock is about 5mm shorter. 330mm vs 325mm. Not sure if that is too much to shim or not. Check the FB groups or SVrider forum.

Thanks for the replies. I have a track day booked for start of July - looking forward to better handling.

Does anyone have an experience of this manufacturer?

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F223098431048

I had not heard of YSS previously, but it is a bespoke part for the SV650 and so would be far easier to fit than something from another bike. It is also rather cheaper than other makes I have seen (I’m still far too tight to pay £275 when my K6 only cost £600 and works pretty well).

I suspect someone will say that this is rubbish and they wouldn’t for it to a Matchbox car (which is fairly obvious because it wouldn’t fit), without having any experience whatsoever of the brand. It would be more interesting to have an informed opinion

Apparently, the forum has had this conversation before:
https://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=214695

Shocks are made in Thailand and they claim to be the largest manufacturer of aftermarket motorcycle shocks...in the world.

It is so helpful to have a chap like you around with a good corporate memory Seeker.

Thank you for that link, ignoring the usual tangents it looks like the YSS items are a good improvement over the OEM part and particularly good value at about a third of the price of other brand names.

If I ever needed to change my 13 year old, 135,000 mile standard unit (i.e. in order to pass the MoT test) I think I’d fit one of these.

Have a look on eBay for a Hagon, they turn up now and again, I'm more than happy with mine, big improvement on OEM. Perfectly fine for track day use, I've done a couple.

Not sure on the cost of a new one, as I got mine on the bay

Think most new shocks and springs would perform better than tired old units. If nothing else swapping it out might inspire some confidence.
