It's been a slow week so far. Managed to get out on the bike on Monday for a couple of hours. Yesterday tramping around Dunelm looking at soft furnishings for the living room. Might nip into town today to get a haircut. Rock and roll lifestyle eh!

Morning Gary. Got a kitchen company coming this morning to give us a quote for a new kitchen, then not much after that. Been drizzly and damp here all week so haven't got out on the bike yet, but tomorrow's looking good so I'm earmarking a couple of hours for a spin out.

Is the Transalp still growing on you, John?

The Tranny is definitely a very different bike to the VFR. I think of the VFR as a grand tourer, great for covering big distances in comfort and speedy. It made a lot of sense for touring Europe. Not so good for bimbling down small country lanes in Welsh Wales.
The Tranny is the opposite. Very happy bimbling along, and very stable at low speeds. Not bothered by rough roads and very confidence inspiring on gravel. On Monday I went to Alderford lake nr Whitchurch as I knew there was a big gravel car park and a field I could play on. Lots of feet up U turns etc, just to get the feel of the bike. It does fast too, in fact it's quite rapid but high speed work is not as comfortable as the VFR due to wind buffeting. So overall it does what I wanted and I'm happy with it.

You may not want to call your new bike a Tranny too often John, and probably not out loud in the pub...

Talking of new bikes, the new Triumph 400's have been launched on their website.

https://www.triumphmotorcycles.co.uk...speed-400-2024

"Speed" and "Scrambler" models so far, which if I remember rightly is a joint dev with Bajaj, an Indian manufacturer. The Speed looks the biz - at 40hp it is much more suitable for UK roads than the 20hp you get from the RE Hunter 350 and may just tempt Lady Poppy back onto her own two wheels again. We'll see.

Hmm, maybe Tranny isn't a good idea, Transcalp? Transplant? And other ideas?
