Re: VFR 800 VTEC 2009 31k £3500
I've been looking for the last two days, then i though i'd come and have a look here. Hours out What a shame. The way they price bikes makes me stay away. All too expensive. |

To be fair, it needed about a grands worth of work doing on it, hence why I got rid, new tyres, a major service and headstock bearings. If you could get it for 4k after they've done all that work to it you'd be getting a good deal. |

Re: VFR 800 VTEC 2009 31k £3500
That was a bargain! I'm in the market for a VFR in July/August - depending how much money I have left after our wedding. Well over £1000 underpriced!

Re: VFR 800 VTEC 2009 31k £3500
Great to ride, they handle really well and the suspension is soft enough for crappy UK roads.
The engine isn't great though, the VTEC system is pointless and you have to thrash it to go anywhere, I often found myself trying to overtake in 4th or 5th and being stranded in the other lane. The best part of the bike is the comfort, 300 miles a day is a breeze and the luggage is huge and really well made. The down side is the cost of ownership, as said earlier in the thread, the vtec system is silly money to service, it's also pretty thirsty. Build quality is some of Honda's best, rode through all weathers, owned it for 10,000 miles and nearly two years and I think I cleaned it 3 times with no ill effects. On paper it's a great bike and if I had any intelligence I would be keeping it, but motorcycling isn't really about, safe, comfy and practical so I got bored of it. |

Re: VFR 800 VTEC 2009 31k £3500
To be fair, as you've gone to a Fireblade I guess the bike was not really the right one for you. I find it has sufficient power and I ride mostly two up. Agree on the VTEC to some degree, but it does make a great noise .
I'm on my second and really do love them. All day comfort, good handling and sweet natured. The panniers are really good as you say. Cost of ownership is not to bad IMHO, insurance is reasonable, servicing is easy DIY, MPG is 40s unless caning the VTEC zone. The big services at 16K intervals are silly money at a Honda dealer but can be done at an independent specialist for much less, only a bit more than a valve check service on other bikes - they get expensive when shims need changing but thankfully that is rare. Unfortunately the 16K service is beyond most DIYers as you need special tools.
