Buying an SV650 - advice?
Hey all
Been lurking a while now, this board seems like a perfect place for me to settle into if I do indeed get a SV650. In the process of DAS, have little bike experience behind me as a teen. Regardless, the SV will be my "first big bike". Was considering a Bandit like most do, except I'm a shorty and I heard/read the SV is also a good starter bike and much lighter I'm 5'4 weighing in a 8 stone So...on with the questions... 1. Pointy/Curvy - explain please <.< Obviously to do with looks but some I look at dont look particularly pointy or curvy, lol. I like the look of the naked more at this point, but I dont think the faired version is that bad either. I'll be doing some motorway riding probably, but not huge distances (prob 50 miles at a time tops). 2. MPG/Tank size - From what I read 100-150 is the average range of the bike, which seems like nothing. I get 400 miles per tank from my car now and I feel like I'm forever stopping to fill up. Is this the norm for this class of bike? 3. I've set myself a strict £1500-£1800 budget. What can I realistcally expect for this price? I want as new and as stock as possible. I think they were my main concerns, thanks all |

Re: SV650 Q's
Well you certainly won't get 400 miles to a tank of gas on the SV lol
Keep it under a tonne and you'll get about 180 maybe 200, thrashing it then 110 maybe less. On my last run 189 miles out a full tank and being sensible with the speed.

Re: SV650 Q's
I dont expect 400 miles lol. 180-200 sounds more than fair though, if I'm doing a longer journey, riding more eco is an acceptable trade off
I wont be thrashing it around a ton, I'll be very careful since my bike license will be newly obtained o.- It'll be mainly weekend rides at first anyway, before I plan on any longer journeys. Top stuff peeps |
