Default charging the battery

Hi,
I have a SV650 (2000) and the battery is now dead. I am totally a mess with technical stuff, so... can someone explain me please how I can re-charge it?
Thank you!

buy decent charger like the Optimate and put your battery on to charge ( atleast overbught in a well ventilated area) or you could always take it to a resonable garage to have it tested

Ok starting with the obvious, you can take the battery out and put it on a normal car/bike 12V battery charger. The battery lives under the rider's seat, if you undo the bolts on the 2 plastic infil panels beneath the seat, there are 2 larger bolts behind them that let you take the rider's seat off. There is a black plastic tray you need to lift up, you should now see the battery. If you then disconnect the negative (Black) lead first, then the positive (red) lead 2nd, you can pull the battery out and put it on charge.

To put it back together do the above backwards!

Alternativly you can bump start the bike and go for a 20 mile ride, but if it's not run for a while it'll be a sod to start, and if you stall it in the middle of no-where before you've put enough charge back in you'll feel silly
