I have used Velcro in the past. Managed to crash test it in the first season of riding, in a low side, and me+bike parted company. However, higher speeds have left me feeling wobbly, so we added a longer strap, which must have just been too much. Have loads of ideas, just need some help in making them. Looking at heavy duty rubber, or air. Make a horseshoe out of high pressure air which holds knee in place, but will pull out when crashing. A tough way to learn I assure you!!

How about an adapted cycling pedal, our feet are firmly clipped in, but in the event of a fall, the pedal system releases the riders foot.

Plenty out there, but think the Shimano SPD system would work well. Plus the're mostly metal construction, so more robust than other systems

That's a good idea, but how do you fit the "male bits" onto the bottom of Motorbike boots? We use basic old fashioned bicycle clips at the moment that bolt onto the foot peg and wrap around on top of the foot. With velcro....we use lots of this...

Thing to improve is at the knees. Too little support and the knees will get splayed with the wind force at speed. Too much support and they wont release in a crash. We use velcro secured to the tank that attaches onto the soft stuff that the knee sliders stick onto. It pulls the knees into the tank and another velcro piece stops the knees sliding forward under braking.

Not sure how to protect the rider from a highside. Highsides are *******s in every circumstance.

Definitely need some good ideas. The technology is out there but how to adapt it cost effectively is a major challenge.

How about guttering mounts or cut down plastic pipe to fit, attached to the bike, slot the legs in when on the bike, which means they will be supported but free to release in the event of an incident?

With some of the cleats you get a threaded plate to bolt the 'male' part of he system to the shoe. There's slots in the shoe to accommodate the plate & to allow fore & aft movement, rotational movement is done by the cleat.

Wouldn't be too had to fit to the base of a motorcycle boot.

If you use bicycle clips, then the foot can't release & you will stay attached to the bike unless the clip breaks. Not ideal, as the forces involved are going to be much higher with a motorbike attached to your feet, rather than a lightweight bicycle.

Not ideal
