West Indies v Rest of the World fundraiser at Lord's tonight. Hurricane relief in the Caribbean.

Shahid Afridi's last match.

I was the only photographer allowed to capture the guard of honour as he came out.

Then he popped into the Museum just to check that I was taking good care of a shirt he gave me back in 2009.

And as he left he announced that his foundation are donating $20,000 to the cause tonight. He's a top bloke.

Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels too.

Just a few shots from last weekend.

Mostly rained for the trip down and back.
The intense weather being four of the 7 hours ride down.
Had a good day Sunday though roads were damp in the morning.
7 and 1/2 hours of rain on the way home Monday but it was just normal rain
and fog like they have elsewhere in the world as compared to the usual
extreme weather of the mountains.

Rained continued there this week and last night there was flooding on many of
the roads I rode on.
Most of these pictures were taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Went for a jaunt today and ended up at an airfield cafe that rang a bell. Realised after a while it was the same place Daddyjob took us too on a rideout some four or five years ago. It was Wellesbourne Airfield in Warwickshire and the Touchdown Cafe. Last time we were there I recall looking down the far end of the field (without my glasses on - twerp!) and seeing something vaguely resembling a Vulcan. Well, today I had my glasses on and, yep, it's a Vulcan!

As it was a Saturday you can go and see it it (we were there on a Sunday last time) so I popped in. What a sight when you're right underneath it, looking up into the bomb bay that in the past held a nuke. They do organised visits where they show you around and I took the card for the co-ordinator. If there's enough interest then perhaps we can have a run out there.

In the mean time here is their website. And to whet your appetite I did of course bag a quick pic while I was there.

I really do like those pictures Bill. Everything looks so lush. You must know the Blue Ridge Parkway very well by now!

It's 469 miles of curvy mountain roads through 2 national forests with fantastic views and very little traffic.
I'm a member of the end to ender club and have rode it end to end in both directions many times.
(Due to the extreme mountain road conditions, weather, wildlife, etc. it takes more than a day to ride in one direction)
If you think 469 miles of mountain roads doesnt sound like much, you have no clue as to the challenge you are about to face.

To be honest, as close as I can calculate, I've done more than 20k miles on the SV just on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
I can pretty much look at any picture of the Parkway and then locate it on a map and give you the nearest milepost number and tell you about where It's located. LOL

Thinking of doing an end to end ride again this year.
If you document the trip and send the info in they will send you a certificate and a bunch of stickers.
I'm getting low on the stickers, so...

It's always more than just a ride though.
It only takes a couple of hundred miles on the Parkway to become an epic adventure, every time.
No one ever rode the BRP and said they had a normal day riding.

Thanks for asking.
Did good for the first two days but was sore by the time I got home. However recovered nicely in a couple of days.
Not bad considering it rode 7 hrs day1, 6 1/2 day 2, and 7 1/2 day three.

Love the Vulcan Sir Trev!
