help with oxford tailpack
hi guys,
just bought a oxford sprint tailpack (below) from HG and having a bit of bother fitting it... in the instructions it says put some big velcro strip round the rear seat then plonk the pack on it and use some bungee straps to secure it down and stop it from going anywhere. the problem i have is that said velcro strap isn't there and i only have 2 straps that have them plastic clip together things like what's on school bags and i dont feel too confident riding with only them on. it moves a little and wont fall off but it just doesnt seem too secure! see below... can you guys tell me if i'm missing anything and what i need to make it secure as i'm getting the feeling that i've just poured my £45 down the pan... lol cheers, Stu. |

Re: help with oxford tailpack
I dont have the sprint version just the first time one and mine has velcro and bungies.
Might be worth a call or pop back to HG or wait for another orger with better advice.

Re: help with oxford tailpack
Just wondered if your one is a tank bag not a tailpack?

Just found this pic of sprint and your pic doesn't look like it has the lower part with the 'D' rings etc attached.

I strongly advise you protect the paint where the straps touch it, it doesn't take long for the straps to rub marks into the paint as the bag bounces around.

You need to buy the bit that zips onto the bottom of the pack. Make sure it's the tailpack base and not the tankbag base that you buy.

Re: help with oxford tailpack
Surely the base should have came as standard?

Re: help with oxford tailpack
Got one free with "Ride" subscription - it definitely comes with the bottom section Geodude's talking about. If yours didn't, you should probably take it back.
The only problem I have is having to take the pillion seat off to put the velcro strap round. If the alarm is in maintenance mode, it goes off when I try to put the seat back on. Not sure why. After the third time I'd deafened myself I sussed out it was easier to disarm the alarm, undo the seat lock and take the pillion seat out, then put the keys in the ignition and turn it straight on before the alarm arms itself again. The seat goes back in place with the Oxford strapped down with no trouble at all that way. Do up the four corner-bungees, then I normally put a couple of bungees either right across the top, or at least attached to the top (depending on how full it is), to stop it swaying in quick corners. |

Re: help with oxford tailpack
Your base is missing and should be there, afaik it also includes all straps / bungees

Re: help with oxford tailpack
Don't think they necessarily come with a base, sometimes its part of the sale or theres is an offers on that includes a base with the bag, but I have seen them for sale where you have to buy a magnetic, tank strap or tailpack base separately. All depends where the bag has come from.
