It's awful, isn't it, especially when you think of the number of years he has been racing at the highest levels without any serious injuries.

It's a lot safer when there's nothing coming the other way

It's unbelievably ironic when you think of many others in motorsport who despite thousands and thousands of miles get killed or seriously hurt doing something else...Mike Hailwood, Steve Hislop, Colin McRae,Michael Shumacker to name a few.so R.I.P Nicky Hayden

It shows you how safe Motorsport actually is in-spite of everything it curtails

I know a few people who have been seriously injured on push bikes, when a vehicle and a bike have an argument there is only one who is going get away without injury, motorists just don't have the patience to deal with bikes, and it seems it is getting worse. Ironic that Hayden has been involved in a dangerous sport and been pretty unscathed and then just an everyday cycling accident ends so tragically.

RIP Nicky Hayden.

My brother is a sporadic cyclist and always goes on about how dangerous motorbikes are, I've always said the danger of pushbikes is that you are being passed so often from both directions.

One of the real characters of the GP circuit. A sad loss for his family and fans.

We talked about this when I spent a day with him. See Gripe of the day.
