Tyre profile
Hi guys...well...I've just hit 8000 mile on my al7 and am at 1mm limit on the front and back, so I ordered myself some Road pilot 4's only I've ordered the front tyre as a 120/60/17 an after looking at my bike noticed mines actually 120/70/17...how much difference will it actually make??
Am after putting them on for the bank hol ride out to Rivington but if I send this back now, I doubt it'll be back in time for weekend. |

Re: Tyre profile
Might be wrong but I'm sure that will slow your turn in due to the flatter profile

Re: Tyre profile
i very much doubt that you will notice any difference apart from when you look at the front chicken strips as you will use more of the width with a smaller wall height due to sitting slightly noise down.

Re: Tyre profile
All of the above and you might feel a little difference in the gearing/revs.The same affect but was exaggerated on my old CX500s whereby,"Custom or GL" users would fit a CX standard 18" rear wheel rim/size instead of their smaller 16" ones e.g to get better economy and a few lower engine revs.

Re: Tyre profile
I changed to 70 and Im sure it made quite a difference although of course I went from a worn tyre to new and a alternate make.... Anyway I prefered it so will stick with the higher profile even though the speedo is now out by
4 to 5 mph |

Re: Tyre profile
Cheers for all the feedback....I guess it's just down to personal preference then, it could work well but I wanted to change my bike step at a time an I'm changing brand so tbh I'll just send it back an wait like a good little boy lol

Re: Tyre profile
Unless he has a front wheel drive SV it's not going to be a real difference in gearing. With a smaller front wheel diameter the speedo will indicate slightly higher for the same revs but it will be and should feel the same (gearing I mean, not handling).
