I have a 1999 SV650 which is on 71,000 miles. Have been told by dealers it's worth ~£400, so maybe ~£500 in a private sale. Perhaps you can ask for around 800? There was an 81,000 mile sv650 (1999 model i think) on autotrader a week or two back, up for around £800 i think

10 ginger bottles
![]() In all seriousness its heavily modded and that will affect its value. Some buyers might like it, some might not. I think the front end alone (suspension, calipers, wheel discs etc) is worth about £6/700 then say another £1000 or more. So maybe £1500 to £1800 IMO

Pretty much any running curvy will go for > £500. Either for conversion to a track bike or someone who can be bothered breaking it for parts. The front end on your bike is worth nearly £600.
I'd be wary of the headlights as it makes me wonder about the history of the bike. Also, for someone with only a years no claims it makes me nervous about trying to insure the bloody thing! (and if I'm honest I'm not that keen on them in the first place!) Personally I'd expect to pay somewhere between £1200 - £1500. There are less bikes to chose from up there so that may help you scrape another couple of hundred out of someone. Depends how much of a hurry you'd be to sell it. |

£1,500 tops I'd say if you want it gone within a few months.
Pros are mods, cons are age, mileage and a replacement engine. |

For me, it's a very nice looking bike but it's not worth much more than a standard bike.
It'd be a lucky if you get someone that'd would have done exactly the same modifications. It'd then be a case of the value that person puts on the time that'd have been needed to fit the items time. They might have plenty of free time so that value might be quite low. The only mod that'd really have cost extra/worth extra is the rear shock. So it's either a case of breaking it with all the crap that goes with that or return to standard....well, change rear shock and perhaps change headlight...then sell it and realise some extra money from selling the shock and headlight. or hope you find a person like the one in paragraph 2. Nobbylad, why is a replacement engine a con?....genuine interest.

Thanks for the honest opinions guys. I appreciate a modded bike will always be a bit marmite. £1000-£1500 was about what I was thinking.
The shock would probably be the only mod I would remove just due to the hassle of putting the other parts back to standard |

I'd see it as a con purely because the engine number won't match the frame number (as far as I'm aware) which may cause problems for some and I'd be thinking why would a perfectly useable engine blow? Leading me to think that the owner wasn't great at looking after the mechanicals, ergo, how screwed is the replacement engine likely to be? Finally, if you've had a bike from new, you can vouch for the history of it, when you've banged a different engine in, you don't have that knowledge (I appreciate that is only relevant if you've had it from new).
