Default Best interviewee ever

So my colleague is interviewing for an IT Junior and the first guy comes in.

Goes something like this:

Q> What would you do in the event of a BSOD, to try and troubleshoot & fix it?

A>Take it to PC World

Silence.....

LOL

At least he got an answer. I've interviewed for juniors in the past and some of them just sit and look at you if you ask a tricky question.

BTW, I've spent some time with our IT guys so I believe the correct answer is;
1. Ctrl/Alt/Delete
2. Switch it off and back on again
3. THEN take it to PC World

While doing this, you should drink copious amounts of coffee and smoke a LOT of cigarettes.

Did I get it right.

In my younger IT days we had a screen saver that looked like the BSOD.

What fun we had with that!!!

I still have a copy of that which gets deployed round the office in times of need

I don't think I can beat "take it to PC World", but one candidate I interviewed declined to attempt a software exercise because he knew "nothing about software, I'm a hardware person" - shame it was for a software support job really...

Better plan

1) Wait till someone leaves their screen unlocked.

2) Print Screen their Desktop

3) Set Screen Print as Desktop Wallpaper

4) Hide Desktop Icons

5) Set Taskbar to Auto-Hide

6) Wait for the call saying that they can move their mouse but not click on anything

7) Laugh

Send him here. He sounds more competent than our PC support guys.

It took me all of Monday morning to get my PC working properly again after putting in a support call. And the problem that I'd called about still wasn't fixed.

After that, replace his desktop with the screen that shows "Computer Locked" when you first go to login. He'll be even more confused when he presses ctl-alt-del
