Re: STVA problem
well the STVA motor comes off ok and I dont know why Suzuki say dont dismantle and want to sell you the whole throttle bodies assembly at great expense! The only loose item is a small idler gear but I think it would go back together no problem however in my case the motor is well corroded and I think beyond saving so I'll be looking for a replacement....

Re: STVA problem
If you take loads of pictures you could be the new "The Geek" for the SV and start a business to reverb all STVA's for the underwater motorcycling community

Re: STVA problem
ooops sorry no pics but yes success! The motor was pretty snotty but cleaned up and dried out ok (couldnt get it out of the plastic housing) and ran on 12v so slapped it back on making sure not to alter the position of the actuator drive. Now bike runs smooth and no codes showing.
Of course dont know how long it'll last but if anyone else is unfortunate enough to have an underwater bike I recommend removing this motor asap to let it dry.... |

Re: STVA problem
If WD40 is the answer you asked the wrong questions, When it dries WD will just gunge everything up again, and become a dirt magnet.

Re: STVA problem
Good result Glang -like I have said before I have no knowledge of what you are messing with but can you see a manufacturers name and possible part number on the motor? Often such things are available online at a fraction of the cost of the official replacement part

Re: STVA problem
Thanks, yes Im quite pleased but cant understand why Suzuki wont sell the actuator motor assembly separately as its easy to change. Youre right the motor itself is probably an off the shelf item but I couldnt get it out of the Suzuki plastic housing so couldnt see any part numbers or manufacturers name...

Re: STVA problem
So they can make more money? They could possibly buy the whole unit in from a supplier and so thats how they sell it on. On our old Honda car the cab fan control unit packed up cost £80 - I split the case and it contained 1 resistor, 1 transistor and a fuse. I changed the lot for less than a fiver with the transistor coming from Hong Kong, so now i have ago at anything like that.
