I've never bothered with how much my Curvy's tank holds but on one deliberate fuel conserving day out I got over 155+miles before my,"Low Fuel" light came on
Of course on another day it was around 138

you will fill up less in the summer that the winter due to petrol expansion. to get 17ltr in the tank you need to do the "dribble in settle" method if the bike is on the side stand.
i wonder how petrol pumps account summer/winter volume? coolers in the tanks? the only sure way you are going to find out how much the tank really holds is to have 20ltr worth of petrol in a can and fill the tank up by hand measuring exactly how much you put in. i rarely get a chance to fill up over 120-150 miles as the people i ride with need to fill up at that. iir my personal best before a fill up is 221 miles and i put 15.7ltr in the tank to my usual fill mark. Also fuel companies change their blends in the winter months which affects MPG

Curvy capacity is 17ltr but I've never got more than 15.9ltr in.
I regularly see well over 190 miles before the light starts flashing and I don't dawdle about particularly. At 88,000 miles the engine is obviously running nice and freely! When I first bought the bike in 2010 it had 19,500 miles on it and the light used to come on at around 175 miles. When I fill up I do it sitting on the bike with it upright and I rock/shake the bike gently while I dribble the fuel in once it's nearly full. I have a minimum 7 mile journey home from my nearest petrol station so I have no worries about fuel leaking out when I put the bike on the sidestand at home, and once it's in the garage it goes straight up on the rear paddock stand anyway |

Cheers. I've never relied on mileage for refuelling, although my current use is pretty consistent. But I like to get what I can out of a fill, doing so at 120 or 130 miles would mean every other day and I'm not going to do that when I can get four days between fills. Currently I have petrol station available in town, and around 1/2 way home. Best case 15 miles between filling stations, worst case 29.
Back in the day of course bikes always had a reserve switch, or going further back they had a fuel tap on each side of the tank. Of course there was always the time that you feel the bike falter, reach down to switch onto reserve and find it's already set. |

I ran out twice with my CBR600. Once I was pushing it back towards town (over a mile to nearest station) when I met a pal who had fuel for his microlight in the back of his truck. So I know a CBR can run on two stroke mix.

Only ran out of fuel once on a bike and that was on one of my old Hondas.Switched to reserve and Nada.Luckily I was close to a mates house and he brought me some fuel.Got the bike started and it was billowing Blue Smoke.It was then he told me he had got it out of his dad's 2-Stroke Lawnmower
Good fun on the ride home with plumes of Blue coming out of the exhaust. Turned out the Reserve Straw had come away inside the tank so there was no reserve :O
