Default Local Authority Bike Bays

I currently work on Fleet Street, the entire area between which and The Embankment seeming to have been in upheaval for months due to the water main renewal.

Well on the 22nd January, the nearest bike bay to me on Whitefriars Street was suspended to allow for them to dig this up.

Suspension was never lifted, dispite me noticing that cars were once again pay-and-displaying, as well as the disabled bay next to it being used.

So, on Friday I got the phone number off the pay and display machine and made a call.

Upshot is, that I explaied the situation, the woman I was talking to said she needed to talk to someone, would I hold and when I asked if I could just leave it with her, she took my number.

10 minutes later I got a call back, and told that due to a mix up from the contractors asking for an extension for the works, that in the end they didnt need, the bay has been "forgotten" about.

She said she it would be un-suspended that day (Friday) and well, I am now parked in said bay.

Impressed

Bike bays in London are excellent. The built in ground anchors are dead handy.

or am I a bit slow and this is sarcasm . . .

The only thing I've ever found in a London bike bay is a heap of bashed up scooters
