I hadnt been that nervous on a bike since I past my test in June 2005! Picked it up at 4:30, and the heavens opened just before hand. Fresh new tyres on wet greasy roads made me a bundle of nerves and could not relax.
Bike was all over the place when I hit a cats eye whilest overtaking. Now about to give it a clean before fitting some extras I bought - radiator & oil cooler grills. Will post some pics once finished and camera is charged up! |

Just take it easy mate. New bike + new tyres + new rider = potential disaster!

brilliant!
Hope your shiny new parts look the dogs! No one told me about the tire problem. I bought my first bike second hand and after a few thousand miles I got a new rear tyre, came out the shop, stopped at lights, filtered through two lines of cars and gunned it off the lights to turn right (its a funny junction!) rear span up while I was leant over slightly, stepped out in a BIG WAY and dumped me and my ego in the middle fo a busy junction.... "New tyres+greasy roads+newbie = Potential Disaster" AMEN! |

Took it out yesterday and clocked up about 100 miles. Got caught up in the storm on the A3 Kingston bypass (Tolworth) so it is now very very filthy! Will give it a thorough clean one evening this week. First impressions: bags of torque, and thats with a very tight engine. A very quick push up to 80 mph to overtake a car (still being gentle with it to run it in) showed some buffeting, so might look at a double bubble screen, but no rush for that. This is my first experiance with a faired bike, so that buffeting is mild compared to what I'm used to! Sweet gearbox & light clutch. Dials are big, clear and easy to read. Seat a bit hard, and a bit too high. Have trouble manouvering it backwards, so will look at a lower seat (I'm only about 5ft 5ins; a small guy! but then so are Angus Young & Ronnie James Dio ![]() Makes a nice sound even with the standard can. Have a Fuel end-can to fit. Oh yes, I'm very happy!!!!! ![]() |

I've been trying to source some since I got the bike in June but cant find any for a K6. K3 - K5 no problem but no k6. Someone on the forum had the oportunity to compare a K3 and K6 and listed a load of minor mods / changes, one of which was the radiator size. Let me know how you get on. |

Kilted Ginger,
I bought my grills from here: http://www.hamicad.co.uk/SV650_Radiator.html Very good items. Not really sure if they will protect from stone chips, but they look good ![]() Very very easy to fit. The oil cooler get a bit fiddly, but if you have the patience it will be ok. I have some pics of them fitted, which I'll post later this evening (SUPPOSED to be working at the mo ![]() |
