Default Suzuki GB's Accessories massive price hike

Here goes a tale.. for some time i have fancied the gel seat for my bandit 1250, and as such have been keeping an eye on the price of said seat.

3 months ago it was £260 so with my eurotour almost upon us i decided now was the time to buy.

phones the dealer i bought my bike from and he looks in THIS years accessory catalogue and tells me it is £278 but he has none in stock and will get one the next day for me if suzi uk have them in stock i ask him to go ahead and check he calls me back 1/2 hour later .........

are you sitting down he says .... i say why ..... he says cos its showing at £474 on the official suzuki website ... he says give me a while to get to the bottom of this something is wrong here...

anyway a while later i get a call from him that is the NEW correct price even though he thinks it stinks there is nothing more he can do to get it any cheaper......

this incites me (not with him but with suzi UK) so i draught a probing letter to suzi UK asking for explanation as to why the price hike ETC ETC ETC quite involved and lengthy, suffice to say in the us the seat is £168 (converted from dollars) self same seat, self same code, self same part number, self same picture.

anyway long story short i get a call from suzi UK to be told the price hike is correct as we in the uk have been getting our accessories TOO CHEAP the rest of europe have had to pay dearer than us so they have decided that instead of setting their own prices for the uk market that they are standardising across the whole of europe with one fixed price no matter where you buy it in the EU. after many exchanges of words and severe discussions there is no relentment even though the 2010 accessory brochure states £278.. and i even managed to get this out of him although your seat has gone up many items have gone the other way ,, so i asked what , reply frames are 50% cheaper than they were , i say what else , well some mudguards is the reply. then i ask is the 50% off frames being financed by the 90% on the SEAT.....

mutcho mutcho discussion later get to the crux ALL normal spares and accessories that you are most likely to use will have increased massively and items you may need once in a blue moon have dropped slightly.

NOT ACCEPTABLE MR SUZUKI as the price in the US should also Tie in with the rest of the world.

If you have purchased anything from suzuki in the last few months just do me a favour ring up and see what price hike they have added onto it and lets all list them here then hopefully we can get a petition together and show the world how we are being treated unfairly.

let the power of the internet speak

Fook, so basically all the items you would be likely to buy have gone up and those less likely to buy have gone down, looks like you will have to try ebay.

I can't help but laugh that you could probably get a new 1250 for close to £4750

Which means the gel seat costs almost 10% of the vehicle purchase price

They need to have a word with Wang Ho, chief of supplies...

BF man I already got one ordered off ebay from the US

total worst case with postage / duty / courier = £268

about 45 of that being duty and customs / courier and 42 being air freight from the US

i would however have paid the 278 just to have it next day but i will be blowed if i am paying 474 for the same seat ....no WAY hos'e

Just checked a couple of prices on Robinsons. Curvy fuel tanks and nose cones the same price...but discontinued. Fairing panels still available...but at almost double the price.
