Re: Ordering from the USA
Depends. I have not as yet had to pay tax but many have. Depends on exchange rate vs total cost incl duty etc should you get stung. At the mo (or it was) ok due to the good rate for things you otherwise couldnt get, i.e. incl shipping and pos tax they come out uk-ish prices. I got a $70 shift lever for about £37, would never have got one otherwise. Beware what you buy is UK compatible tho, gps etc.

Re: Ordering from the USA
I bought a brand new carbon fibre hugger for my 749 from the US it was only £55 instead of the £100-£150 that they are over here. I never had any problems with VAT or customs.

Re: Ordering from the USA
Lynw knows everything about this I just know that sometimes it works out free, and sometimes I get murdered for tax... So make sure it's cheap...

Re: Ordering from the USA
I think it depends on the item and how it's declared as to weather you get done by the tax man, i know electronic items get tax'd, i've brought 2 items from the US, 1 was the speedo converter for the GSXR front end which was over $40 so i got tax'd the other was a 5 function display and because it was under the $40 i didn't get charged

Quote:
Up to £18 or up to £36 for gifts which is about $35 or $70 so ask if they will mark it as a gift and ask if thy can keep the declared value below $70 (Don't tell Lyn I said so ) And remember Parcelforce add almost £15 if there is a customs charge to pay |

Re: Ordering from the USA(value for money?)
Yep... But remember that if it's lost in the mail and you've put a false value on it, that's what you get back, so you do need to be cautious with it. It's the charges at this end that make it such a killer though, the system's almsot designed to make you lie. No fun.
