I told the insurance company that I would be doing 24k miles a year just commuting, then add fun miles, call it 30k a year. They gave me an unlimited milage policy. Didn't bump the premium up much either

Doris has just turned 50, thats 50000 miles. It was bought in December 2000 brand spanking new by me. With a couple of offs, and other things, its been off the road for it say about 9 months out of that times. it equates to about 7000 a year, but in the 1st couple of years i hit 9-10k per year. With this and around 8k per year in the car

Had my SV just over a year and put 6,500 miles on it - got my Z750 on the last day of June last year and it now has 4,200 miles on it - should have done about 6000 by the time I have had it a year...

Interesting to see that the SV is definitely a bike people buy to ride and not just polish - give yourselves a big pat on the back!

Have a 10k/year "limit" on my policy.

Looks like it may be just about right - 5700 on the ODO at the moment, tho summer may REALLY bump that up.

I tend to do about 100 miles a week - 50 miles a week commuting (took me 10 mins from leaving Aldwych to stopping in front of my garage last night :P)

SELKENT usually adds 50 miles every other week and in the "off" weeks I seem to end up doing 50 random miles.

I anticipate ride-outs and my tour of the Nation (with Vixis on pillion) will add to this - I think that the bike will have to go for its 7.5k service PRE AR07

Think yourself lucky! I'm expecting that I'll have to do the 20k service (only a minor I know) before the AR. It makes it worse when I know we both have K6's & I did my 15k service (a little late) last weekend.

6400 on mine when I bought Oct 2003 (Curvy S 2000 Black) ... 25750 yesterday, 150 miles a week commuting, 3 and half years, nearly a full 20,000 miles that me and my SV have ridden together ... wind, snow and sunshine! Don't ride in summer hols when I am off work!

You do have a big commute though Dude. Most folks would move or do it by car. You are hardcore!

Just a question for those on limited miles. I assume that your insurance asked for, and you provided the mileage reading on your odometer? Otherwise how are they ever going to prove that you actually have gone over your mileage allowance

Aah, a loophole. They never asked for my milage but I guess they could always ask to see MOT certificates if I made a claim!
