Windows XP 32 or 64 bit?
Wassa difference?
Looking to reinstall XP on to my Dell computer (wipe C drive and start from scratch), as I want to get rid of all the dell software on it that seems to be conflicting with my network, and also causing BSOD For my level of computing I get on with XP and can get it cheap, but which should I get? And what is the difference? Oh, I'm working with 2x 3ghz Pentium D's 2 GB Ram GeForce somethingorother And there is a motherboard (whatever Dell fitted) |

Re: Windows XP 32 or 64 bit?
I would go with 32bit cause if u go for the 64bit you will need to find drivers for that.....and it can be a pain.
Difference between the 32 and 64bit depends on your processor (whether it is a 32 or 64bit one) i.e. if it can process 32bit string or 64 |

I agree. 32 is proven and works. 64 is still buggy.

Re: Windows XP 32 or 64 bit?
The PentiumD 3.0 will support 64 bit, but like others said, driver search can be a pain. Also some software might refuse to run under the x86 32bit emulation thingy, so you'll be screwed if that happens. On the other hand, I've found the 64 bit version to be ever so slightly more robust than the 32 bit one...

Re: Windows XP 32 or 64 bit?
64 bit is not buggy, runs better than 32 bit IMO, drivers are not too much of a pain depending on what you use the PC for, big companies like logitech etc are god at providing 64 bit drivers. do a search first and check for drivers before you decide. Oh, and havn't had anywhere new as much spyware and viruses on xp64.

If you feeling really fancy you could 'dual' boot it and see how you like it.
