Continuing this project. May be useful to anyone looking to replace bolts on the SV but there's some good info here which could apply to any bike. Feel free to contribute.

As this is a reference thread, can we have it stickied?

Nice one. Started with the intention of not having to rely on the usual reply of "buy it from Suzuki" or even worse Pro-bolt, which is far too expensive. There are many suppliers of suitable bolts out there with the main issue being people don't know the sizes & pitch. But if this info helps one person source a better deal, then job done.

I'm about to do a mini overhaul on the SV and purchased the full fairing bolt kit for £26 quid, so will be adding all fairing bolt and engine bolt sizes shortly. As above, please feel free to contribute to the info if you can.

Useful information, but I've found fastener supply stores to have knowledgeable employees and the tools to correctly measure and match hardware, including strength and hardness (usually). Of course you need an example to take to them for matching...

A Google search by Suzuki part# usually works too, for example searching for 07130-08202 takes me right to a parts supplier where the bolt is identified as 8X20. Not always enough information, but a good start.

The problem is that some of us don't have that luxury of a good shop nearby. Others would like the online option (me) & your knowledge of these things is far greater than a newbie.

Why not drop some info in here though? Even if it's a link to some of those suppliers you mentioned. (Doh... You're in the US)

Yes, sorry, but it does have some benefits. Everywhere I've lived in the U.S., there has been a place like the one I currently use, called Automotive Fasteners, that's both helpful and a good source of all sorts of fasteners, (except titanium). You do need to know if the fasteners you're looking to replace need to be high strength or not, corrosion resistant or not, etc. It's good to replace a fastener with a better one, but not good to downgrade. If there are grade markings on the fasteners you remove, that's good, they'll know what they mean. If unmarked, you can tell them what its used for, where it goes, but it's always up to you to get what you really need, not all countermen are experts.
Thread gauges and calipers, plus basic knowledge of fastener properties, which can be learned on the internet, make it possible to find and order what you need, but a machine specific list like yours Runako is just simple and easy.
