nice place to stop for food/picnic?
its the girlfriends b'day next week, and since i am trying to get her more into biking (so she stops worring about me on it all the time) i want to take her on a little road trip stopping for some food (either a pub meal etc or just a scenic place to stop) and a nice ride out
was thinking about just heading to whitby and getting some fish and chips but any ideas are welcomed |

Hello bud,
Not sure what area your from, but me and a few of my mates like to go to Monsal Head, great views, and there's a pub for lunch or a cafe, it can get a little busy on a nice day though. http://derbyshireuk.net/monsal.html http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl...04828&t=h&z=18 |

sorry bud, I dont know anywhere nice round that area.
Infact I have on good information that there's nothing nice over there. All the beauty and well being are this side of the Pennines. |

devils bridge down beside the river, or any of the lakes bluebell cafe at coniston or there is a nice pub at wasdalehead that serves decent grub and you can look at skidaw if it stops raining. for the cheapskates there is devils bridge burger van or hawes cafe (pennygarth) or indeed hartside cafe. if your rich the sharrow bay hotel overlooking ullswater is a nice place |

Take her to Croft Nik, go this weekend the BSB is on. You could get her a hog roast sarnie from the van.
Plenty of places about, you could head over to Masham as theres a few pubs to choose from over there. Alternatively a trip to the Lakes as Mark says, loads of places. Theres a nice Cafe on Windermere (think its in Ambleside) which is right on the water edge, you could take her to Squires but its not so nice a place for romantics. Whitby is as good a shout as any really though, cant be Fish & Chips from the big Chippy down from Magpie Cafe. (forget its name) |

Runswick Bay is nice, or if you don't mind going down the coast a bit there is Filey or Flamborough Head. Dalby Forest is good too if you go along the forest drive.
