indeed it is, although not the current design, it's the last of the originals.

I rode the 1000 at the recent Kawasaki day at Silverstone (not on track) and thought it was ****e. The engine vibrated worse than my old Hornet between 6 and 8K - so 70-90 mph, exactly where it would be most used. Also found that the screen introduced a buffeting around my helmet (!!!!!) which I never used to get with the Hornet and don't get with the SV. Very comfy though, despite it's size.

Whilst I'm sure you're aware, the thou has little to do with the 650 bar name, being closer to the Z1000sx; which it shares the IL4 engine with, unlike the parallel twin of the 650, coming from the ER6 range, as mine has the touring pack it comes with the very good official screen (MRA) which can be adjusted for perfect height; so no buffeting from that, weight wise it's a good deal lighter than the thou as well adding to the more "flickible" nature, so a comparison between the two is rather mute.

I think you may mean moot? I wasn't drawing a comparison, just passing comment upon a recent experience which I was expecting to enjoy and didn't. Having now ridden a few Kawasaki's (admittedly nothing in the ER6 range) and dealing with them on a daily basis I'm afraid I don't rate them. Some of their engines vibrate really badly (Versys 1000, Z750, Z1000) and others are just very uncomfortable (Z800, ZX6). All rot really badly when subjected to the British weather (not unlike Suzuki's) but I try to keep an open mind to new stuff that they bring out. I actually don't believe that there is such thing as a perfect bike for all situations but if the one that you (or anyone) has puts a smile on your face then it's all good.

Ah I see, your posts now make sense, was wondering why you'd be so irrelevantly negative in this type of thread, clearly you want to show you work in the industry in some fashion and consider yourself some sort of authority , rather than just trying to take the shine off someone elses new bike

It isn't surprising bikes rot in this countries winter climate, but then they all do that to one degree or another, whilst I'm aware price has a bearing on finish quality; I'm sure most of us already knew that, the choice is either put it away or keep it as clean as possible whiles enjoying all year round riding.

You suggest the Kawasaki range suffer bad engines; are uncomfortable, within the realm of mass generlisation (given your "open mind", it seems a rather narrow perspective) I'd have to disagree, not only do Kawasaki have a well deserved reputation for exceptional engines, but lumping something like a ZX6 & the retro Z800 together in a comfort category is at best ill considered of designated purpose.

Perfect bike , given a specific time/place and ride, that will all change from moment to moment, the Versys much like the remit of the SV, is a well rounded "all rounder" which is just what it was designed for.

If you find a ZX636 uncomftable your not going fast enough lol.
A race rep is what it is and makes no apoligie for such.

Biggest crock of crap I've read in a long time. How many Kawasakis have you owned, rather than just test riding?
Glad see you are showing off your new wheels Mark. I'll expect a visit soon when its up to your standard

Looking forward to having a look at the new bike Mark. Glad to hear you are back on 2 wheels. I won't be at Soho for a couple of weeks due to work and other stuff but if you are coming anywhere near Lord's any time soon send me a text and I'll meet you for a cuppa.
