Can anyone reccomend me a cheap Hotel / Package Holiday?

Never done it before and a bit nervous..

Im looking for real world reccomendations of Hotels that have been booked on last minutes / cheap holiday packages? Looking fors somewhere with sun

I know I shouldnt read too much into internet reviews but i dont want to waste a load of cash in a sh!te hotel!!

But last time when we booked a holiday (ok, it was just a city break where we didn't mind where we went). I did search using http://www.kayak.co.uk/?tab=flights

Do some searches on dates you want to go, selecting possible destinations (check out if you'd like to go there).
It's a good indictation of destinations where the flights are cheapest (careful of flights with too many stops), then search for a package holiday to that destination/date on LastMinute.com

Have noticed that the package holidays for the same dates will generally be cheaper based on the cost of the flights. Now, in the case of using something like lastminute it's just matter of picking the hotel in the desired location based on price, what the accommodation pics look like and location to where you want to be.

Sure could do the same for sunny beach hols, etc?? Just an idea, hth as a starting point

When are you looking to go? If you're looking to go around now, then head for the Canaries - subtropical climate with full Euro mod-cons. If you're looking in a couple of months, try somewhere like Turkey.

Then decide whether you want to choose the resort. If so, fire up the big tour operator web sites (from experience I'd rate them Thomson, MyTravel, Thomascook, in that order) and have a look to see what they have in their late deals section - you can book up to 6 weeks in advance and have a good look round to see what the score is. Tripadvisor.com is your friend - wherever you're looking to go, the resort/hotel/whatever will have been reviewed on there. Ignore the people who whinge about being burgled or having an upset tum, these things happen.
If you really don't care where you stay, to the point that you're happy to be assigned accommodation when you get to the airport at the far end, then make sure you tell the travel agent what standard you're after - if you're expecting 5*, then say so and they can book it that way, rather than you finding yourself in a 2* fleapit with nothing but a return ticket to keep you entertained.

The last couple of package deals I've had were in Gran Canaria. If you're after a cheap 18-30 style ****up then try Playa del Ingles. I loathe the place, but it has its place. If all you really want is sun, sun, sun then I've just done a week at the Taurito Princess in Playa Taurito. Very quiet resort but within easy bus/taxi distance of all the usual stuff, jetski and diving places on site, all-inclusive so unlimited booze and food, and no pikeys. Well recommended for around ?550 per person.

Red Sea Egypt if you're looking for sun & sea with lots of luxury and don't mind being stuck in the middle of nowhere, ideal if you are off with a girlfriend for a week, otherwise a little dull...
