Buying an sv650s, what to look out for, questions to ask? - SV650.org

Despite not having ridden one* I'm pretty smitten by the bike that spawned this site and having seen another gorgeous example today I'm thinking of biting the bullet. On another site someone said to make sure it'd had valve clearances at 14,500 miles. So what other things should I ask about or look out for? I'll be looking for a pointy with full fairing and 2k or under. Ta

*long story but had turned up for a test ride only to be turned away

Wait until you can have a test ride, go to another garage if necessary. As you've alluded to there's plenty of nice ones around so there's no sense rushing.

He said because a new license holder then most shops wouldn't allow me a test ride as their insurance wouldn't cover me. Place nearby hires sv650s so tempted to do that for a weekend.

I've just got my first one after passing my test last month. if they want to sell the bike then I cant see why they wont let you test ride, look elsewhere if I was you, I picked mine up for a very good price I think need a bit of TLC but I have all winter to sort it.

You will find a mint one for 2k if you keep looking.

I got lucky. I bought my naked k3 on ebay for £1500. less than 8000 miles. Its my daily commute. Faultless after 15 months.

Nice price, mine has 33k on the clock, its also a k3 on an 04 plate.

I'm assuming that its a K3. It's on a 53 plate but I'm new to biking and don't know how I would confirm the model.

Not sure where you are in the county but this looks like a very nice bike indeed, and possibly a very good price with only 8k on the clock.
