Next bike after an SV650?
Went for a ride on my brothers Gixer 1000 and it was awesome.
I like the sitting position and the power (of course). This led me to think I might like a sports bike so off I went to Appleyards in Leeds to check out the prices. SV650 K8 Sport = £4699 (£4299 with Suzuki's £400 cashback) My bike as p/x is worth £2500 (SV650 naked with 5,500 mls exactly 1 yr old) How crap is that p/x? After looking at the SV Sport and although I liked it, I decided not to bother as I'd only gain a fairing for another £1800! Colours aint that good either. Looks like a Gixer but that will be next year. However, A GSXR600 = £7200 A GSXR750 = £8000 A GSXR1000 = £8995 Looks like I'll be getting a used 600 or 700 or an older GSXR and keeping the SV! |

Can't understand anybody buying new, especially if they only keep them for a year. Of course your gonna suffer from huge depreciation.
So many good low mileage well looked after bikes out there. Good plan I reckon to keep the Sv, anothers years warranty on it yet, and buy a barely used SS. Only downside is the additional insurance and roadtax. |

Re: Next bike after an SV650?
I thought about trying to find a used 12mnths old Sport from a dealer - That way I wouldn't pay a chunk more money, and indeed this is still an option. The new grey or black colours aint that exciting, whereas, I've always loved the blue I have.
I got my bike on 3yrs 0% and as I'm only part way through it, I need to be savvy what I do. Otherwise I'll be out of pocket. |

Re: Next bike after an SV650?
Depreciation....My brother bought a used Peugeot last year for 12k. The original owner bought it new for 18k 11mths previously!!
Not sure what to do re the bike. You know when you want something but it's proving hard to get it easily! Last edited by Defender; 26-05-08 at 10:44 AM. |

Re: Next bike after an SV650?
Bought me SV in March 08.
I went new cos' I was intending to keep it for a few years, and new = no risk of bike having been owned by someone with zero cash for maintanence or fiddling fingers...... Now I am not so sure about keeping the SV and therefore the depreciation = Honda Blackbird is top of my wish list at the moment - a s/h one (it's a Honda!) unless Honda bring out a revised version next year....... |
